The Thule expansion
The Thule are the ancestors of today's Inuit, and they moved east from Alaska and settled the whole Arctic as far as Greenland. The Thule expansion is among the fastest documented settlement movements in human history, and it was driven by technology rather than numbers: large-scale whaling gave a food surplus no earlier Arctic culture had. They encountered both the Dorset, who vanished, and Norse settlers in Greenland — the latter meeting is documented in Inuit oral tradition and in Norse objects found at Thule sites.
